Midnight Special was one of the best things about the ’70s. Gorillaz were one of the best things about the ’00s.

There’s a part of me that has never forgiven him for allowing ELO to descend into roller disco – it was this moment that I always think of when I remember first learning what “sell out” meant.

But damn. ELO. His work with George Harrison. His work with Dave Edmunds. The Traveling Wilburys. He’s had a lot of good moments, hasn’t he?

I assembled the complete ‘Secret Messages’ album after finding a boot of the “Beatles Forever” track. Hell of an album, just sorry that it wasn’t properly released with all of its tracks… “Mandalay” and “Hello My Old Friend” are shweet.
