I don't mean this as an insult but The Wire is not some light hearted show that you can just vegetate in front of. It requires the viewer to be able to think, possibly one additional reason that so much of the United States doesn't get it. Sad, but not surprising as the institutional rot that The Wire depicts so well is not quarantined in Baltimore. Pure genius this show is. There is no need to resort to name calling, poor frank just doesn’t get it.

I don’t mean this as an insult but The Wire is not some light hearted show that you can just vegetate in front of. It requires the viewer to be able to think, possibly one additional reason that so much of the United States doesn’t get it.

Sad, but not surprising as the institutional rot that The Wire depicts so well is not quarantined in Baltimore.

I've tried getting into it several times because I'm a George Pelacanos fan -- he was one of the writers originally. The writing is terrible: all the swearing is laughable, not edgy. The show is cast with second-rate one-note actors. All in all, The Wire is simply sub-par. What an overrated show.
