Being a journalist means &quot;pay attention to this&quot;, being an advocate means &quot;things should be different.&quot; What the media, in commentary, does, is deny &quot;being&quot; and replace it with symbol, group, or type. So, we ask &quot;why?&quot; when we should ask &quot;who?&quot;
