Verizon said they are looking into the issue of my $8,663 cell phone bill. I had unlimited internet but when I got a new phone I was being charged by the kilobyte. Should I be concerned with the idea that they maybe digging into my online history ?

Damn.... I had no idea that anyone was deploying FTTH yet, at least outside of major apartment buildings in downtown cores. The buildout costs have got to be huge. I'm impressed, and a little jealous too.

You're almost certainly right, Martin. The FiOS service hast to be a huge reason for the difference between AT&T's and Verizon's responses to this issue - they've got people lined up for their service precisely because it's a big pipe - having to tell their customers that they'll be monitoring the pipe for Torrent feeds, P2P networks, etc. would probably make FiOS stillborn.

Shadow war: AT&T versus Verizon for control of American communications...

Verizon is saying it won't police Internet content out of concern for customer privacy, even as its competitor AT&T plans to do so. Given that this company spied illegally on millions of Americans, what's behind the change of heart?...
