"Tax the churches...tax the businesses owned by the churches." ~FZ (But i say let them be tax exempt if they are using church money to help the needy. Though by "needy" i don't mean "We need a newer, bigger church" or "The pastor needs a vacation or a raise or a new house." And i certainly don't mean, "We need a television station."

The last thing Obama needs is a writer from San Fransisco to start calling him a Buddha. And that's what Morford's doing, because the Sanskrit is Thataghata (one who abides in suchness/thusness...i.e. enlightened) and there is no limit to the number of Buddhas possible. In fact, they are as incalculable as the sands of the Ganges. Even to insinuate that Obama is a mere bodhisatva (enlightened one who keeps one foot in the cycle of birth and death until every blade of grass has cleansed its thataghatagarba - buddha embryo - and awakened to a state of enlightenment) still smacks of the cultish. And John McCain says, "See, look, those nutty liberals think he's the Messiah."

What law enforcement/politicians fear about medical marijuana is that once it's legitimate, people will realize that the stuff isn't that bad...and then they'll want to soften regulation on non-medical marijuana too. We can't have that: it would make for a smaller, less expensive and less intrusive government. Everybody knows that Republicans don't want smaller government and neither do the Democrats. (My Dem governor is hard against a medical marijuana referendum on the November ballot.)
