What a disgrace. With all those legal fees and the propaganda advertising, they probably could have done the right thing in the beginning and fared better. They could have promoted themselves as morally constrained to be concerned with the environment instead of practicing evasion. What is wrong with these people?

I dunno doc… the Exxon on the corner has a for rent sign up.

I haven’t bought anything from Exxon since 1989. I have even run out of gas to avoid their products. We Americans need to vote with our pockets more often. It may be the only vote we have that actually counts.

Not that I’m putting anybody out of business, but I haven’t bought gas from Exxon five times since the Valdez spill. With luck, this case will remind a lot of consumers that there’s usually another station charging the same price right across the street.

It’s not enough, no, but apparently it’s all we got.

Exxon delayed in any way it could, and low and behold, conservatism took hold in the Supreme Court. Exxon today found its punitive financial liability a mere pittance, only 10 percent of the original jury award. Moral: Stall, stall, stall ……

This reminds me – I know someone who worked that summer cataloging marine mammals so that the state of Alaska could sue Exxon. I wonder how she looks back on that summer now with nearly 20 years of perspective….
