I've long been amazed how any aid offered by the "bad guys" is quickly painted as some sort of underhanded aggression...while our aid, which is often very militaristic in nature, is always "humanitarian". Bogeymen have the ability to turn the world upside down with nothing more than the power of wishful thinking. All the world has evil intentions...they're all out to get us. Transference. I've come to believe that the diamond path to truth is to listen to what we say about others; it reveals our intent and our actual actions. I am not suggesting that the rest of the world is full of good guys against us, the bad guy. Nor am i suggesting that we are always wrong. But our foreign policy and international behavior is clearly out of balance and no longer informed by reason. Unfortunately, i hold little hope that it will change...at least not until we have no other choice. Another outstanding piece.
