Corn is monoecious (having male and female flowers separate but on the same plant). The tassel at the top of a corn plant is the male flower, while the silk and husks are the female flower...with the edible kernels being the result of sweet, sweet pollination.

The roughly two weeks of actual summer we&#039;ve gotten has not been kind to local sweet corn :(</description>

I think corn is really beautiful.  The individual kernels are unique yet fit together perfectly.  I&#039;m not sure what the silk brings to the party - maybe Lex can tell us.</description>
