The teeth aren't shaped right - most cutting teeth are bent away from the plane of the blade in an alternating fashion and they're angled forward away from the handle. That way the blade stays put as you cut, the cutting is more efficient, and the teeth don't get dull as fast. At least, that's true of wood saws.
