World War Z is brilliant modern classic
You can say that again! (And I'm the last one to elevate a horror novel to such status.)

Denny, that's a great question--in fact, one worthy of its own post. I'll give you a response tomorrow!

You should track down the medical paper that was published in a peer-reviewed medical journal that recounts the difficulty of planning for a zombie attack. The gist of it was that the zombie infection was so contagious that only by massive and merciless quarantine could an infection like a zombie outbreak be contained.

Exchange the zombie outbreak for something like the superflu from The Stand and you can imagine why it was published in a real medical journal - the medical and planning aspects were legit, even if the infection was not.

Zombies are soooo last year. Like they say: zombies are big during Republican administrations; vampires are big during Dem administrations.

Thanks for the book posts though! I didn't realize there were ninjas in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I wonder if that means there are pirates in Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters? It seem pretty much like a given, no?

Well, I guess I'm behind on my Zombie reads. Thanks.

I'm curious, though. You note that zombies and associated lit are "hot pop-cultural property" these says. I've been seen Zombie themes in Disney fare such as "Wizards of Waverly Place."

How could the Zombies are getting such mainstream media treatment?
