Looks like the tops of magazines.
Wow. I was going to speculate that it was some sort of textile, but I think I like Josh’s answer better.
Offhand it looks like some kind of corduroy cloth, perhaps furniture material.

wow you got a picture of the rings of Saturn! Impressive. Actually, it looks like the top of a filing cabinet.
The partially splayed out edge of a phonebook.
It’s a book of carpet samples.
I’d like to claim the rings of Saturn… but it’s about 6 months of Vanity Fair in our magazine rack!
The thick parts make it look more like books than magazines
Dang, I was on airplanes and in airports all day yesterday and just got to see this pictures. I’ll have to think about this one.
