And if memory of a situation that i do not follow closely serves me correctly, there have been some pretty serious charges of corruption leveled against family members/close associates of Uribe. That's apparently a problem when it happens in Afghanistan but not so much of a problem in Colombia. But hey, what's one more violent mess more or less? We know that the US can't win a war anymore, and so does the rest of the world.
