This may sound strange, but when i think of America i don't think of purple mountain's majesty or amber waves of grain. I think of scenes like the one in the video...i'm patriotic for all the wrong reasons and in support of all the wrong people i guess. I have this soundtrack CD set. Saw the film, had to have the music. And yes - straight from church to the market to do the Sunday shopping and get home to dinner. Look at the girl in the floral dress, her partner, the woman in pristine white, that cigarette levitating on the guitarist's lips. Watch where the camera lingers, hear Nighthawk slap those strings and if your hips don't start moving then you must be dead below the waist. If honest, straight-up music and dancing and drinking and fucking is really a sin, why would God have made it so heartbreakingly gorgeous to hear and see? Russ, I can’t believe it.
