Ah. That is clearly a phenomenon known as The Nexus of Ubertramp.

  2. Ubertramp, January 6, 2010 at 8:23 pm :

Close. But this can’t be real. It has to be an artists rendering because if it’s what I think it is, it is impossible to take a picture of it. No camera or probe would survive the gravitational forces involved. This looks like what happens when two unstable worm holes collide. Or, even worse, a cross current between two intersecting gravity waves…which could theoretically happen if two ships came out of hyperspace into the same point in n-space. Not a pretty picture.

    Drink umbrella from below.

You may be right, Lex. Especially for a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

Dang I missed this yesterday. Not looking at the other guesses, I figure it to be some sort of Japanese paper umbrella?

Yup. Farley got it. Now lets pull back a little bit…

Aha. A photographic sneak attack… the Adorable Alert has now gone to Level Purple.

That was at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, by the way:

So I was right! I had always heard that the Dragonboat Gods live in a gravitational vortex, but here is proof!
