Isn’t this the cruiserline ventiport, right side, of the space vehicle that brought Ubertramp to Earth?

  2. Ubertramp, January 27, 2010 at 4:04 pm :

Close. It looks remarkably like the steps leading up to one of the many stages on the premier Trans-Gal Cruiser, The Ellington.

Believe it or not, Duke ain’t dead. The Ditori loved his music so much, they gave him a cherry deal he couldn’t pass up. Another chance at life and his own cruiser where he could entertain vacationers at will. The only catch was he’d have to give Queen Iredupix lessons on the trumpet.

Duke took the gig, assembled an intergalactic big band (that really puts the cantina scene in Star Wars to shame), and has been playing for decades. The entire stage behind those blue steps rises up at the beginning of the show, supporting him and the band.

Unfortunately, the Queen has a tin ear. She tries, but it doesn’t help that she really doesn’t have the lips for it. But those legs… Daaaaaamn.

I’m guessing that “giving Queen Iredupix lessons on the trumpet” is some kind of euphemism that I really don’t want explained to me?

Jesh. Get your mind outta the gutter. :P

Dude, ya got me. But it appears that the S&R archives stretch all the way back to the disco era. Wait, is this an advertisement for Disco Stu?

You got it Rho. I snuck behind a Secret Service guy to get my camera resting on the steps of the stage for this shot. This was at the Pepsi Center before we went to Mile High Stadium.

Well that makes sense. Do i get an honorable mention, ’cause what could be more Disco than a Democratic National Convention?
